Register a domain name

1. Go reputable hosting services include Register.com, GoDaddy.com, OnlyDomains.com and eNom.com.

2. Choose a service to host your website, or go with the service that you already have (if you inherited a website).

3. Use the availability checker. These sites will all have an availability checker, where you type in the domain name you want and they tell you if it's available or suggest alternatives if it isn't.

4. Once you've found an available domain name, you'll want to select it and follow the instructions for that particular service.

5. Fill out their forms.

6. Enter your payment information and make sure it's correct

7. Once you're registered with them and everything is good to go, you can start using their tools to upload stuff to your site.
